I am a huge fan of coop slasher genre of games and I’ve been playing Warhammer: Vermintide for so long. Finally, the Fatshark have released the second part of the game and I purchased it on Steam without any hesitation. The price tag of $30 is funny compared to other AAA games which usually cost more than $50. Anyhow, after the installation I have faced a serious issue. The game couldn’t be launched because msvcp140.dll file is missing. I have tried to reinstall the game and verify the game cache through Steam, but it didn’t fix the issue. At first I was thinking about asking for a refund, but still, I couldn’t believe that the developers have made such a mistake after previous great experience of the first Vermintide. So, I decided to contact the developers for the solution for msvcp140.dll is missing error.
On the next day, I have received an answer from the Fatshark and they said that msvcp140.dll is missing error is not related with their game. That it is a Windows system library which should be present in the system folder in order to provide optimal work of various applications, not just Vermintide 2 game. To test their words, I have installed other game on my computer and couldn’t launch it either because of msvcp140.dll is missing error. After that, I went to the Windows support center and wrote my question regarding this issue. After few hours, I had an answer that the msvcp140.dll library might be damaged or corrupted and therefore I am getting this error. The advice was to reinstall the Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 which contains that library. Anyhow, it was quite hard for me to find that software, so I opted for easier way and installed the msvcp140.dll library directly into system folder. The genuine msvcp140.dll library can be downloaded from here: https://fix4dll.com/msvcp140_dll. Also, the installation instructions are provided on the website.
